Strapping
PP Strapping vs PET Strapping
A practical comparison of polypropylene and polyester strapping for load securing.

Polypropylene (PP) strapping
PP strapping is lightweight and economical. It is commonly used for carton closing, bundling and light to medium pallet loads. It stretches more than PET, which can be useful on loads that settle but means it holds tension less well over time.
Polyester (PET) strapping
PET strapping is stronger and retains tension better than PP of a similar size. It is often used for medium to heavy loads and is sometimes considered as an alternative to steel strapping for some applications.
Key differences
- Strength: PET is generally stronger than PP.
- Tension retention: PET usually holds tension better.
- Cost: PP is usually lower cost.
- Tools and seals: each needs compatible seals, buckles and tools.
