Strapping
Steel Strapping for Heavy Industrial Loads
When steel strapping is used and what to consider for safe application.

Where steel strapping is used
Steel strapping is used for very heavy, rigid or sharp-edged loads such as metal coils, bar stock, bricks and timber, where minimal stretch is required.
Considerations
- Steel strapping requires compatible seals and tools.
- Cut ends are sharp: use appropriate gloves and eye protection.
- Bare steel can rust; painted or coated strap is available for some applications.
- Edge protectors help prevent the strap damaging the load.
Alternatives
For some applications, PET or composite strapping may be considered. Suitability should be assessed for each load.
